Are you a seasoned Unix developer, with an application in C or C++, that you want to port to the AS/400 ?
|
Porting software from one platform to another is like translating from German to French. You have to know the original, to understand what it is trying to accomplish, and you have to
know how to express that in terms of the target.
There are many good Unix programmers around, who know their system inside-out. Likewise, there are many good AS/400 programmers. But somebody who knows both is
like the needle in the haystack. In fact, you'll have a hard time finding an AS/400 programmer who even knows C. And if you have ever tried to talk to them, you may have
met with a blank stare and got incomprehensible responses in return.
While we don't claim to be able to beat your best Unix gurus at their own game, we should be able to beat a fair number of them. (We have done some fairly hairy system programming
and have the scars to prove it). And of course, we know C and C++ from many years of practice, including the AS/400. And we do know the issues that make the AS/400 so different from a "normal" machine.
